Research Interaction Designer and Developer (m/w/d)
Know Center is a research centre where innovative solutions that combine technology and society are researched and developed. One focus is on the development of user-centred systems that are both technically advanced and adapted to the needs of users. We are looking for a passionate Human Computer Interaction expert with a strong background in socio-technical design and solid programming skills to join our team.
YOUR TASKS
- Design and development of user-centred interfaces and systems, taking into account the principles of human-computer interaction (HCI).
- Analysing and considering socio-technical factors to ensure that technical solutions support the social and cultural needs of user groups.
- Conducting user research, evaluating existing systems (e.g. interviews, surveys, focus groups) to incorporate findings and suggestions for improvements based on user feedback into the design process.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of designers, developers and researchers to develop innovative and sustainable technical solutions combined with a keen interest in research.
- Application of programming skills (e.g. in Java, Python, C++, etc.) for prototype development and technical implementation of HCI concepts.
- Active design and involvement in workshops to promote a user-centred innovation culture.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in computer science, software development, or a related field.
- Solid programming skills in at least one common programming language (e.g. Java, Python, C++) or in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and relational databases.
- Experience with prototyping tools and methods as well as UX/UI design principles.
- Skills in user research and analysing social-technical contexts.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills and a high level of initiative.
- Fluent in English (at least B2 level), knowledge of German is an advantage.

We are required by law to specify the minimum gross salary according to the collective agreement, which is for the full-time position with some
working experience a minimum 3.077,00 EUR gross per month (14 times per year). Depending on qualifications and experience we are willing to
pay a higher salary in line with the market.
